Tampa Bay, FL – Tampa-based Sun Mullet has introduced its new line of colorful sun protective headwear.
The Sun Mullet is a simple yet effective shade that fits over a typical sports hat or glasses for instant sun protection. The Sun Mullet is available in one-size-fits-all and made with high-quality, moisture-wicking UPF50+ material. The Sun Mullet is available in a variety of colors including: light pink, light blue, neon green, orange, khaki and white.
Research has shown that dense, tight construction minimizes the amount of UV light that can pass through fabric—therefore eliminating the risk of overexposure when worn. With this knowledge, the Sun Mullet was developed with material offering a UV-reducing ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) of 50+, which keeps the wearer cool and protected from harmful rays.
According to the American Cancer Society, skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States—with up to 90% being sun-related. Anyone who spends time outdoors inherits a risk of prolonged exposure to ultraviolet rays, which have been linked to painful sunburn, accelerating skin aging and skin cancer.
Owner Adam Danner – a skin cancer survivor – invented the product after spending countless hours in the sun as a general contractor in the state of Florida. “For most of my life, I was a casual sunscreen user who never considered sun-protective clothing as an option. However, my approach to sun protection drastically changed when I was told that an unassuming mole on my back was melanoma skin cancer. My heightened awareness of sun protection has been passed down to my children, who have also become mullet heads.”
The company’s newly launched website, located at sunmullet.com, provides free information about skin care, a convenient ordering system for purchasing a Sun Mullet and user-submitted photos. The Sun Mullet website was developed by St. Petersburg-based Real Sparks LLC.
